Stepside Tailgate ?
I am working on fixing up my 85 stepside and I want to do something other
than the ole chain and hook to hold the tailgate closed.......have done a little looking but have not seen any thing to replace the chain and hook. IF you have done away with them on your stepside would really like to see a picture of how you did it........... and where you got the stuff to do it with. Thnx DOn........... |

I recently saw an older stepside that used a seatbelt buckle on each side. Half of the buckle was attached to the bedside, half to the tailgate. To open it, he just pushed the seat belt button on both sides.
I don't know how well it worked, but it was probably very inexpensive. Slonaker |

Yeah Mar K has a great selection and catalog, but their prices are a tad expensive on some things, like bedwood. BUT you probably get more than your money's worth in quality. I haven't used them YET, but i garantee i will at some point. Its really not that difficult to change the chains up. You can cut the brackets (or buy new ones) and weld them to the inside of the bed, and they are effectively outta the way.

Chains
Well I want the chain completely gone, I hate have them swinging around and wearing the paint off after I get it painted. Looked at Mark-K looks like they have what I want. Thanks for the info.
