so thats why my heater didnt work well....!
well i changed the oil in the truck today, since its just sitting with the rearend out of it. while i was at it i decided to replace my tstat since winter is coming. was gonna replace the 180 with a 195. My elec. fans come on at 185.
so i take the tstat housing off and what do i find?? my 180 stat was stuck open. i figured it had been that way for a while but i didnt want to replace it because i was lazy and it makes a mess. |

Changing a T-Stat on mine takes all of about 5-10 mins and I don't have to buy a gasket or use silicone, I love the o-ring sealed water neck I bought.
I'm thinking about changing my 180 out for a 195 this winter also, maybe it will get me a little better fuel mileage also. But with the 180 my heat works great. If your T-stat was stuck open it took a long time to warm up didn't it?

yes, it took forever.
i've got an o-ring waterneck too but the trouble is, anytime i go to unscrew the waterneck coolant always rushs out of it |

If your system is clean inside, the truck should heat with a 180 degree T/stat. UNLESS you live where the temperatures reach a really low level and stays there until summer comes aknockin. I live in Kansas and I am running 180 degreee units in all of my vehicles.
