S10 Diesel?

Hi everyone, I'm sneaking over from the 60-66 board to pick your brains. I was going through a local paper and found in an auction sale bill a 1984 2wd S10 with a diesel and a 5 speed. Did Chevy ever offer that as an option, or did this guy do this himself? I don't believe it was a typo because it was emphasized as a diesel.

IIRC they used a 4 clyinder Isuzu diesel engine. SEVERELY underpowered but extremely reliable. If it's cheap, I'd grab it.

yeah they made those...dont know the specs on them, but one of my ex-girlfriends drove one in high school. it had over 300,000 miles on it, and you could get out and walk faster than the truck, but it was dead reliable. i think they finally scrapped it because the frame rusted out.

Wonder if you can add a turbo? That would probably get it some more power and should still stay reliable if you don't run the boost too high. Or you could always add more fuel or propane injection....
