Tell me what you know about TBI

Well swaping TBI into a non TBI truck to be exact.
TBI parts car is a 88 firebird.
Receiver is a 79 Blazer.

Im pulling Intake manifold and up, harness, serpintine setup, and computer. Anything else I need to grab?

if its a 305 in the car, and a 350 in the truck, dont bother. the 305 TBI wont like the larger displacement. i would recomend a tbi setup from a truck with a 350.

That should at the most be the injectors tho right? Well and how the computer is programed. I was thinking about getting a 5.7 computer anyways.

You wont need a whole different computer for the 350. All you need is the chip for it.

I hear that 350 knock sensors ESC and a few other components are different than 305 Not sure thouh Im swapping a 305 TBI system to 350 But Im going to use either a 305 throttle body with 350 injectors Only difference is the injectors .. or a 454 TB

And like earlier stated the chip is different.

I think you'll need the calpak as well as the prom chip for the ecm. What transmission will you be running? The ECM activates the kickdown solenoid on the TH400 so you'll have to make sure the prom chip can do this. The 305 TBI will work on a 350, you just need to use the larger injectors.

im going to be using a th400. Ill have to read more into the kick down part but I know if all else fails I can use a manual kickdown like what would be on a carb. I know if it was a 7004r then you would need the lock up.

I lucked out the Truck i pulled my harness from had a TH-375 wich is basically the same as a TH-400 so i will have kickdown based off TPS sensor If for some reason it dont act right or hold the gear long enough I can always hook up my factory kickdown .

You may be able to wire it into your computer The truck i pulled my harness from was an 89 C1500 W/T You might get a schematic for one of them.

I own a 94 so I already have a manual for those model trucks, plus one for the 87-91 TBI injected trucks.

From what im gather, Ill need to lay out the harness that I have, cut open the tape and pull all unneeded wires and sensors out of it?

Well one of the 20 pages that i looked at between last night and now I thought I saw a chart with ones you could pull. I dunno. Basicly I just want to make sure I get everything out of the car before I smash it that way I dont have to track down the parts once I go to install it in my blazer.

BTW, if you buy the calpack at the dealer, it will have the PROM on it already. Around here, there are a ton of TBI suburbans in the pick a part, and they all have the 7747 ECM and 350 Calpack in them. The same one was used from 87 to 94, and it will be in pickups, vans, suburbans, etc.

The 7747 is also a good ECM to put on a Cross Fire Injection setup to get it to work correctly, FWIW.
