I've got a friend that has a forged steel 427 crank. Don't know the numbers or what he wants for it though. Let me know if you're interested and I'll ask him. bpursley@esc14.net

I have a fresh cast 396/427 crank with the new clevite 77 bearings for 125 bucks. I got lucky when I found my 427, seems like they are getting harder to find.

I have one !!! however it is still stashed in the car can't decide what to do. It's a 427 biscane rust bucket. It wouldbe worth some cash restored but it is going to need a LOT of work. Light green with cream int. ugly.

Hmmm.. ...427... there is something magical about those numbers
I do have one... Purchased new in 1969 from Chevrolet and it has less than 500 miles on it... Its a Corvette service "270" casting (only manufactured two months, Aug,Sept 68)... L88, L89 or 435HP replacement engine... currently has "Iron" 840 square port heads... 12.5 compression forged pistons.. 7/16 dimpled full floater rods... (polished and beamed)... ZL-1 "600-600" cam.. (nasty idle)... 4130 steel crank.. Corvette "trap door" oil pan... L-88 aluminun intake manifold.. etc... He would have to want it REALLY bad and squeeze his wallet HARD if he wanted me to turn loose of it.. (it is intended to go in my 1934 Studebaker).. But..... for enough money I can go buy a 502 inch Big block from Chevrolet... Personally unless you needed a certain date coded block I would build one out of a 454 or if he really wants a 60's block .. find a 65 - 68 thick wall 396 and bore it out.... It would be WAY less expensive... CG... since your 427 does not have the square port heads its probably worth in the range of $2500 - $3500... Or more to a guy who has a Big block 69 Corvette missing his original engine... BUT DONT SELL IT!!!!... LOL... |

I would have to agree. There is no reason to put an original 427 in anything but a numbers matching restoration (of course, you would have to restamp the block). They are just to high dollar these days. A killer 427 can be built with a commonly found 454 and steel 3:76 crank. These are also pretty easy to come by as all of the tall deck truck blocks (366 &427) have them. I would try and have your friend see the light!

I have a 427 , but it is the tall deck. It only has 7K on it, and runs excellent . If it would possibly work for your friend, let me know. I'm asking $2250/offer.
