What did you get done?
I didn't see it up yet so I guess I'll start it. I replaced the lower radiator hose and installed a new thermostat gasket. Also adjusted the choke and idle on the Q-jet. It is getting quite cold in Ohio these days, and Big Bird is getting tempermental. Nothing worse than having to work on your rig in cold weather and busting your knuckles on something. Hope everyone remembered to thank a veteran for their freedom this weekend.

Rotated tires on both the 85 truck and the 90 burb.
Polished the wheels on the truck. Painted the gas tank shield flat black (has had overspray from paintjob) Removed dash pad and speakers on truck (new one comes in Nov16) Washed and waxed and detailed the truck. I know it doesnt sound like much, but it sure feels like it :p

well i worked saturday and killed the trans on my truck.. posted a story further down the list about that so i wasnt too much in the mood to do anything on the trucks sunday so today im sitting watching football and i took the old lady to the mall and pretended i wanted to shop for things for her for a bit, and thats about it. Monday ill make some calls about getting a new trans for it then ill find the time to get to doin it

I was on long weekend. Thursday I went and goofed off with Gman69 and met Putter, looked at a lot of nice trucks, almost bought another one (a 72). Charged the battery on the 82 since daughter left the lights on at school all day. Yesterday I started disassembling the bed of the 70 so I can start tripping it for repainting. Worked on some other small projects. Took the son to the movies (Polar Express...graphics are great). Today is homework day so It'll get shot away without any truck activities.

I found one oil leak that I need to fix. I need to replace both the inner and outer fuel pump gaskets. Last time it was off I didnt have any and thought the black weather strip sealant would work just fine. I was in the middle of a cam swap and didnt want to drop everything and run to the parts store. Its lasted about a year and a half til now, its not bad it doesnt leak drops of oil just has the wet look on everything. Took a few pictures and exhaust avi (if any would care to host them hint hint ). Need to clean up the underside again from the oil and being on the highway it covered everything I cleaned up. Now I need to start working on getting the power locks and windows working again.

Hey all!
Had a good weekend all in all. Friday night after work I brought an old flame back home. I'll try to explain as quickly as possible. For a lot of years, my family has been in the carnival business. (Yeah, I'm a "carny" ) At the end of the '03 season, my dad said he was ready to hang it up. He sold much of the equipment and it appeared we were done, so I traded my '94 dually in on my wife's Saturn Vue. Not long after that, he decided maybe we would stay in business, on a smaller scale with the rides we had left. That was fine, except now I didn't have a truck to carry all my tools, spare parts, etc. I made it through this last summer carrying some tools in the trunk of my car, but it always seemed like I needed things that I used to carry in my truck but no longer had room for in the car. Well, Thursday night my dad called me and told me my old dually was setting on a used car lot in a nearby town. I went Friday after work and brought her home! It's a '94 Chevy extended cab 4x4 dually, 454, 4L80E, 4.10 difs (locking rear), white with red int. All my tool boxes were still mounted in the back, too. Went to a wedding Saturday, but spent today working on the old girl. The thermostat was stuck, so I replaced it. I think that it was causing a "service engine" light, cause it went out then. Changed the oil and spark plugs, and did some paint touch up work. Damn I'm glad to have her back! Take care Joe

man it just doesnt feel the same when N2TRUX doesnt start the thread. but anyways I tore down my yfz350 motor and split the case... top end was destroyed. $400 later I have a new topend and I have to bring the bottom end in for inspection to make sure it doesnt grenade... theres a LOT of stuff in a little atv motor.. but anyways I know its not truck related but thats what I got done. Also went to my friends funeral on saturday.. it was very depressing.. innocent girl dead @ 22 due to a truck accident... and life goes on, or so they say....

friday was the first play off game and we lost! im so happy no more marching anymore or football games or after school pratices! now i have alot of extra time on my hands, probally start doing more work on the truck. saterday, just lounged around the house and didn't do a thing, didn't even get up till 2. sunday, i replaced the door lock, and messed around with my system a little bit, about it.

Ripped all my vinyl flooring out and the crappy insulation because it was soaking wet and falling apart and all that, then I proceded to scrap up, wire wheel, and sand all the rust up I could, then I continued on my quest to install the New Sony CDX-F7700 deck, then run 4 ga wire from the battery to run my amp (its a small amp (MTX Road Thunder 202) but I wanted room to upgrade) and the amp is running 2 Profile Baja 12" subs. Got it all installed and it actually sounds decent for the cheap subs I used, I guess the 4v pre-outs on the Sony deck help out some and its got over 100 db signal-noise ratio.

i fixed some interior trim that had the screws break though on it. put some nice SS screws in their place. Also cleaned up all the ass ugly wiring by my battery in my engine compartment.
earlier in the week i changed my oil thursday i'm gonna drop in my NEW 180tstat and new temp sender. it will turn the fans on at 200 and off at 185. oh, and i ordered a billet rearview mirror |

I pulled the Harley truck out since it hadn't been cranked in a few weeks, and dusted it off. Then I cleaned my garage out. Well at least half of it any way. I need to get cabinets installed to have a place to store stuff. Today I didn't do much. Went to church, then to lunch with the preacher and his family. Later a buddy came over and told me about his trip to the track in San Antonio.....

I fixed the alternator. It's been throwing the belt. I finally realized that the alternator side threads are shot. I bought a nice grade 8 bolt and installed it. Works fine. I'll be getting a rebuilt 120 alternator over the Thanksgiving weekend. If I take my truck on the trip I may install the new alternator for the trip back to Austin.

No truck stuff here. I worked my second job Saturday afternoon then went to dinner and a movie (The Incredibles) with my fiance. Sunday, cleaned the house, watched the race, and watched the Vikes lose a close one to the Pack.

Not much, changed the oil in the S10 and wifes car, also rotated her tires.
Tried to work on the '78. Still trying to get the brakes back working. Went the bleed the fronts to see if I could get any air out of them and my cheap, new craftsman wrench flexed and rounded off the bleeder. It promptly got thrown into the woods. Came to look for another one, which I dont have here at home and gave up on that for the day. Put on my new vac advance can to try and set the carb up. Hooked up the vac gage and I cant make heads or tails of what I'm doing b/c the dang needle wont stay still at idle. It jumps from below 15 to up to 18-19. According to the sight I'm going buy means worn valve guides or a sticking valve. It shouldnt be either one b/c the heads were completely reworked. I do have what sounds like a miss on the pass. side so I suppose its time to pull the covers and see if I've broken a spring. So after all that I gave up for the day. I'm just so frustrated with it. Fresh motor/tranny put maybe 300 miles on them and the rear end went out. Fixed that, cant get the brakes working so I cant drive it. That really pisses me off, that after putting $3k in it in an attempt to give my S10 a rest (102k in 4 yrs) it wont stop tearing up. If it wasnt my first vehicle and the one my (late) father taught me everything I know automotive realted it would be up for sale tomorrow. On top of all the other ****ty stuff going on right now, I really didnt need this. But such is life right? I'll let it sit another week and try again. I was exited after 2 yrs to get to drive it again, and after those breif 300 miles its been a lawn ornmant again for the last 3 almost 4 months now. I'm just fed up with spend the $$ I really dont have on it, but I dont want it to sit anymore b/c of all thats tied up in it. Then after I get it working somewhat it still has to go back to the shop that did the rear b/c it whines on decel. Starting to think I should have sold it when the enging blew in '01.

Got the cab and front of the truck primered and started to put filler on...
Made some serious progress for a change. Also got the front side of the doors primered, today is the rear side of the doors to be primered. Then I can start some serious filling process... |

Installed my fuel tank covers, filler/vent hoses, filler knecks, front shock absorbers, all-new steering linkage, and driver side hub assembly.

finally got my disc brake project wrapped up... got my original axle out... got my new axle prepped, primed and painted... got new u-bolts / hardware, new axle seals in, etc to get everything in... but ran into a problem with the pin on the carrier in the posi... one of the spider gear shims was preventing the pin from going down in... so, that held up the project and as of the yet the axle is not in... ugh... pics of the axle to come soon...
but the steelers won! |

I got my trailer hitch class 4 installed. Tired of bending the crap out of my step bumper towing. I also looked at my cab corner with the rust holes for about 20 min almost started to fix it....then... decided to watch football the rest of the day

I had a LOOONG weekend, since I had thursday AND friday off from work (My school district decided that instead of just giving us thursday, they'd give us both days.)
So, thursday I just kinda layed around and didn't really do much of anything, since it was Veteran's day and all. Friday I went and had lunch with my fiancee (her school district made them work friday, nyaah nyaah!) Then I got some work around the house done. On friday night, I went down to the Indian Casino (Table Mountain) and had their $10 Seafood buffett (usually go there on fridays), and decided to play a little. Got to playing BJ on a $5 table, and after about 20 minutes, I found myself getting good cards...actually, I got 5 BlackJack's in a row!! Too bad I wasn't betting BIG (only $10-$25 each hand). All in all, I walked away with $100 more than I came with. Saturday I slept in, then just sat around all day and waited for my fiancee to get off from her other job (she works at the movie theatre on the weekends, basically so we can go to the movies for free, haha.) Then we rented Envy, and watched that (pretty funny movie) Sunday, was the day that I finally got all my car-related stuff done. I had wanted to get it done spreadout over the 4-day weekend, but I ended up doing it all in one day. I rewired the vanity mirror lights in my vette, and fixed the problem it had with blowing the INST LIGHT fuse. Then, I (with the help of the forum) found out what was draining the battery in the truck. Then after that, I pulled the door panels off the 91 G20 van, and pulled the window motors and tested them, found out that they're bad (They haven't worked for a few years now, just never got around to pulling them out) Ordered a new OEM set off E-bay for $75 shipped. Was gonna get my fuel cell put in the truck, but I thought I better get it RUNNING first. |
