Turning the rotors

I was wondering if I have my rotors turned, will I need to replace the brake pads? The pads are pretty new and they where expensive (Raybestos PGs). They are maybe 3 months old if that. I was wondering if they would smooth out or if they will just cause more harm than good not replacing them.

As a side note Im also replacing the rubber brake lines and calipers. Witch may lead to new bearings and possibly another 80.00 pair of brake pads

how do the pads look? if they are not very grooved, just go ahead and reuse em. you can also go out and burnish the pads to make sure everythign in workin right.

"burnish the pads" What?

The reason I have started in this direction, is there is vibration under heavy braking. I kind of think its in the rear brakes but wanted to start with the front. I have some other work that needs to be done in the front. So to me this is the prime opportunity to take care of it. I need to replace the rubber brake hoses on both sides. Calipers, Rotors turned (maybe), new bearings (maybe) and last but not least brake pads only if I really have to.

Its just like a disease and it spreads like water Stemming all from old cracked rubber brake hoses.

burnish = sand smooth. ive got a roll of sticky sandpaper. i stuck a strip to my work table to clean up brake pads and get them nice and flat again.

Yeah its kinda like ABS in a way. It grabs seems then slip for a fraction of a second then grabs again. The truck feels like it shivers is about the best way I can think to describe it. I doesn't do it as low brake pedal pressure or that I feel. But it is there under moderate to heavy braking. It is really hard to lock up the tires Ive noticed. That was before I realized I had bad brake hose lines. Im in the process of getting them fixed very soon.

When mine did that it was the rears. Go on a back road get up to about 30 or so and ease on the e-brake and nothing else. That will tell you if its the rears or fronts. Just dont slam it down hard and make sure you hold the release handle out.

Take the pads and scuff them on a rough concrete block, and then re-install them.
