69 custom camper 20!!! cab swp info HELP

ok, i lined up buying a 69 3/4 ton custom camper today, should be picking it up tomorow.

its a nice body, no drivetrain, no title...

sooo, i want to swap this cab to my 71 K-10, i know i'll need to cut the floor and use my hump for the 4x4 shifter, but what else will i need to change...

are the brakes the same, (booster, and the way it mounts) are the cab mounts the same, what about any wiring issue i might have?

i plan to use evrything from my tuck (guages, wiring, column, and so on).

just want some tips to avoid any delays later on..

THANKS, zach

there will be a throttle rod on the 69 while your 71 will be a cable...the booster will need swapped, but I think the mounting will be the same, the floor hump as you mentioned...
The cab mounts should be the same. Only the 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive is different.

1/2 ton 2 wheel drive trucks had a shorter cab mount then any 4X4, any 3/4 ton or any one ton.

Just the rubber cab mount it's self is taller than the 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive. You're OK on this.

The throttle rod/cable is not an easy swap, the firewall is stamped differently. Either cut and weld, or get a rod for the new cab.
Your brake pedal assembly is fine. just hook the later booster to it in the same location as the old one.

i think i'll try and get the cable to work... i had a 69 K-20 last year, and it stuck on me once... it sucked! im not a big fan of the throttle RODS at all.

now that you mention the body mounts being taller, does that mean the mounts where tha front clip and box mount are taller, or is the cab mounts "higher" in the cab... is there any way someone could post pics??? i know i'll be aight, but im just curious.

hows come they made the 4x4 and heavyer trucks diffrent, is it better that way?

if your rod was sticking, you probably had it hooked to the carb wrong, or a bad motor mount was making it bind.
I am 99% sure the other mounts will be taller too.
taller mounts...NFC as to why.
