tag lite issue!!

I got power in the socket and the base of the bulb, but the bulb doesnt glow and I've tried 3 bulbs. Is this a ground issue or bad socket assembly?

sounds like a ground problem. Put your clamp from your test light to power then probe for ground!

I've scraped the paint off and made sure everything was metal to metal but still no glow! I installed the glovebox lite and it works fine!

Using either a 12v test light or a voltmeter, check for voltage between the socket casing and the contact in the center of the socket. If you have voltage, the ground is good, but the bulb is not getting a good connection. There may be small spring behind the contact, which is there to push the contact against the base of the bulb. The spring may be missing or broken, so the base of the bulb is not actually in contact with --- well, with the contact!

HTH - I think I may have almost confused myself here!

Another possibility - are you sure the 3 bulbs are good?

just cut off the old conecter and put a new one on, i had to do that with mine. course also had to grind the rust and old paint out of the hole to get a good ground on it.
