Side rails were a dealer installed option they actually list them in the sales brochure. I would assume that the bumper steps were also an option- only seen one set and that was on a truck when I was in college. Bumper guards were a dealer option as well. If the side rails have a GM # I would say those would be a desireable option if someone had a original truck they were restoring.

Yeah I would agree with you on the rareity. If you have a set they would be worth keeping as are the rails etc. I would figure they are in the same boat as the factory tissue (dealer option accessory) dispenser. I have looked all over he** for one and the best I could do was a 1973 model- most people don't know what they are so I have it in the truck now but would really like the original... I have a question about your rails.... are they the round type with points on the ends? I ask because the brochure shows an illustration of that type of rail- My dad called them "Casket Rails". Can you post a picture?

Yes rails have like a bullet point on the ends.
Rubber mount pads . mine are in good shape the chrome mount risers have some pitting. Im sure they could be rechromed the rails and ends are perfect thou. the rubber pads have some cracks on the edges but dont look too bad. Ill try to post some pictures in the next couple days. I will probally sell them I will not be putting them back on the truck. |
