Tandem Lock

Hi Guys,

Bought a 72 stepside a few months back, having loads of fun with it. Was just wonderign about something. On the fuel gauge cluster there are two lamps (one on right at around 4 clock, which has never illuminated) one at 7 clock says tandem lock.

What is the 'tandem lock' (she's a two wheel drive so that rules out any 4 wheel drive thingys which I thought maybe something to do with diff locks)
and what is the other lamp?

Cheers
Lee

Maybe your instrument cluster came out of a dump truck or motorhome with tandem rear wheels. Just a guess though.

Yup Sweet...that cluster was in a big truck from the factory...or at least the fuel guage.

Think of it as a brake warning light.

Thanks Guys :-)
Planning on doing some work and getting a refurbed gauge set, hence the question as the ones in the catalogues only have the brake and fuel warning lights...
Maybe it just had idiot lights on it before and it was changed at some point for convenience.
Might just keep it as a novelty feature.....

nope, the base model dummy light inst panel uses the same guages as the optional acc guage equipped ones. That fuel guage is defenately out of a 67 - 72 C/40 or bigger.
