Unhappy The end of an era...GMC is gone.

It was 4 years and 8 days ago i brought the GMC home. At that point, it was nothing but a replacement rig for my twisted longhorn (RIP). I liked the way it sat, and I always thought the GMC grills looked mean...but it was nothing more.
Then I drove it. I was hooked. Sure, it was an old POS...but it was my baby. I had a 4 year affair with my truck. We had are rough times....she did leave me stranded once...200 miles from home. After yelling, cussing, crying, and yes...I even kicked it....I left it there. It was in BFE back woods Tx. (go to the south end of waco, go east to the middle of no where, and keep going another 50 miles or so...that's exactly where I was) And it sat. I left the sucker there for 28 days and nights before I was able to get to her with a new spindle and hub assembly. I p!ssed her off so much by leaving her there, that she threatened to not get me home. Coughing and farting...missing and back firing...once I cleaned all the rust out of the carb bowls, she treated me right.
We had an understanding after that day....I can run the p!ss out of her, but I sure as hell better take it home and baby it.
So I bought her some wax...yes, I polished the turd.
This sucker was more dependable then gravity. Fired up every time I wanted it to...except for once.
Well...all good things must come to an end as I have been finding out more and more. A long winding road with banked curves, no traffic, and no cops....highway bliss...has to end. As does this long hate/love relationship. (The one with the truck, not the wife...although...)
I finally sold the 'ole girl. hooked her up to the tow bar one last time...and hooked it to some one else's Jeep.
I just hope she don't feel abandoned. She was a wild child...had a mind of her own...but we both thought alike, which is why we got along so well.

To my Wild Child...a so long salute.

CHEVYE came up and hauled it out of here. Some of her parts will reciecve eternal life in his never ending resto...other parts will end up on another truck for his buddy....and some of it will end up as crush weight to ship over to Japan.
CHEVYE, treat her right man...she likes cheap Vodka every once in a while. Don't get upset when she marks her territory in the driveway.

And yes...I am a little...

There is nothing I hate more, getting rid of something that is. That's why I'm called obsesive once I get it I don't get rid of it. I feel like I work hard for my toys and look at them as acommplishments not just objects of my obsesion.....

Yup, the fundage that the GMC produced is going right into the Longhorn. The only thing I will buy first, is a replacement tow bar.

Yup, sure the kids cry when you tie up old yeller to a tre and blow his brains out...but they'll eventually get over it. (pretty close to a quote from the movie Tommy Boy)

keep an eye out the front door. it just may come back on its own late tonight, probably while you are sleeping. if she is sitting on the stret with a puddle under the front what you will see is not coolant but instead truck tears.

Man, you are deep. On the lighter side. I now have had my 68 longer than anything else. All of my other vehicles will leave before I get rid of it. Kerry
