sunvisor? stupid question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

OK,, So the PO of my truck pulled the visor flappy things off the rod thing that mounts on the roof. Am I being clear? Anyways I can't seem to get the rods inserted back into the visor flappy thing. Eventually I'll use diferent visors but for now I'd like something other than pulling my ball cap lower. I've tried putting them back but don't want to bend either the rods, or the visors, and it definatly ain't worth impailing myself. I can get them in about 6 inches then it gets real tight. any suggestions?

Get a rod of the same diameter as the visor rod (or slightly larger) - grind one end down to a taper (like a sharpened pencil tip) but with a smoothly rounded tip. Push it through the visor slot, and push the visor rod through directly behind it.

the visor is so Tight I don't think a larger rod could possibly go thru, unless I bashed it with a hammer. And I think the existing rod id taperd a bit.. Luckily I have several ball caps.

When I put mine back together, I held onto the visor and twisted and pushed the rod back inside.Might spray the rod with wd-40 first to help? Should have some kind of mark on the rod as to the depth you want to go? Hope this helps? They can be a pain.

Don't spray the rod with W-40,spray it with silicon.Or you can drive just at night.

I used silicone as well and it worked great. It is a very tight fit and I found it easier to push the visor onto the rod, rather than forcing the rod through the visor. What worked for me was setting the base of the bracket on my work bench with the rod pointing upward, then with both hands sliding the visor down onto the rod. I found that stopping about 5/8 of an inch from the bend in the rod was a good position.

I USED A LITTLE SILICONE AS LUBE ON MINE WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM ALSO. THEY ARE AWFUL TIGHT.
