Big Block P/S Reservoir Hose???

What is the best type hose to use for the remote reservoir on the big block? I used a 3/4" heater hose, and after about 1 year the fluid has started seeping thru all over. Any ideas?? Greg

"Do Not" use heater hose for any kind of petroleum products. It deteriorates after a period of time, and is almost as bad as using a garden hose. Try and find some "Push-Lok" hose. Works great for about any kind of hoses you'll find on a truck. Hope this helps?

Look in the phone book under "hose" shops, or "hydraulic" shops. They will have the hose you need.

Gates offers pw steering hose that is correct for you bb. You need to find a parts person willing to look for you but it is listed in the gates catalog. I got mine when I worked in parts store.

I used a short piece of clear vinyl tubing; has worked fine for last 10 years....and a side benefit; a quick glance will tell if there is adequate fluid in the reservoir. The temperature has not been factor as far as long life...Normal temp range for flexible vinyl tubing is -25 to 140 degrees F.

Re: Big Block P/S Reservoir Hose???

Finally got around to fixing this. Gates has a 3/4" hose similar to heater hose that is rated for transmission fluid. It is listed as Gates # 349990 power steering return hose, it's 10 feet long in a box. I had to order it, but it's the right hose.....cost about $10 total.
