Damned Theives....

Hi gang,
Sorry I haven't been able to post in some time but, I have been busy moving my girlfriend and I into an apartment. I just got my dsl line activated yesterday so... I should be back around more.

Now to the title of my post.... I took my old lady up to the local wal-mart to pick up our christmas tree. We were inside for no more than an hour and I come outside to find my drivers wing window laying in my floorboard. Somebody stole the console that I had built last spring along with audio components that were under it. Just had to vent and to remind everyone to watch themselves during the holidays...... there's more people out than anything else....

I'm also going to post a thread in the parts forum for a drivers wing window. If anyone has a spare that they can let go let me know. Maybe I should just pm teeitup...

Thanks... I'm not really upset, My buddy has had his 84 truck broken into five or six times since he's had it. I just wasn't too happy when I noticed I was going to have to put a new window in...

damn dude that sucks. what all was in the console that they stole? did you go and see if there was a video of what happened. more than likely your walmart has a lot of cameras outside. just go in and tell them what happened. i would have gotten the police there if i was you.

dinnut, I had 2 amps and a 10" sony sub. None of it was hooked up... there was no way to see any of it. Also... My girlfriend went inside and wal-mart, wouldn't do anything.... They do have cameras though but, if it doesn't hurt the store then they aren't going to mess with checking the tapes.

it was probably one of your 'friends' some one that knew you had it and wanted it bad enough. looks like you need some levers for your heat selector too

as far as heater selectors, some one converted mine from AC to non AC,and left all the cables off,no control at all

It couldn't have been a "friend" I don't talk about my truck to anyone just because of things like that. My answer to everything is, "It's just an old beater work truck" I haven't had the amps or sub hooked up since last spring. I doubt if anyone remembers hearing any music come from the inside of my truck. The only time I turn it up is when i'm on the highway.

Brainchild, That sucks that the prev. owner didn't leave the cables for you. You can always pull the levers on the heater box if it's still there.

I feel your pain brother. Nothing pisses me off more than a thief. I had some moron break into my car, tear out my dash, break my window and steal my ashtray and they did it for a $99 cd player....... $600 worth of damage done to my car for a $99 cd player. The sad thing is that i live in a nice neighborhood and it was most likely one of my neighbors kids or something.

Its probably a good thing that i didnt catch the litttle bastard or they would spend the rest of their life feeding themselves from a tube.

It really doesn't take much. You probably drew attention to yourself when you pulled into the parking lot. Chances are that the thieves were within eyeshot when you pulled in. If you had your stereo cranked you caught their attention and they just waited for you to leave your truck.
It almost happened to a friend of mine. He had a crappy plymouth horizon with like a $2000 system in it. He was driving into town with it one night with the music blaring, it was like a big magnet for these criminals. We stopped to get a bite to eat at the Taco Bell and while we were sitting there 4 guys walked up to the car and were staring inside. Luckily we noticed them right away, there were only three of us but we got up walked outside and to approach them. They saw us coming a mile away and took off. Hmmm, I wonder what they were planning on doing. Certainly they didn't plan on stealing that piece of crap car.

Sorry to hear. Hope you can get er fixed on the cheap. I allready gave my spare to a neighbor that shared your same fate. Next half off day at pick-n-pull I'm gonna pick a couple up just for this reason.
I'd just put an old tape deck in mine if the po hadn't cut the dash. Nobody wants an old 2nd gen Pioneer supertuner anymore.

Don't mean to hi-jack the tread. But has anyone ever got ripped off at the dealership?

My brother had taken his truck in on warranty work and someone at the dealership messed around the back of the dash. They cut a few wires while attempting to get his non-factory deck out. He had done it right, he used a harness kit. All they would have had to do was pull the plug.

Not to mention they also drain close to a gallon of DEX-COOL anti-freeze out (when they first started using it in Chevrolet pickups). The truck got hot on the way home. He had to add some.

Sory to hear about your truck. I own a honda ricer, and I have a piece of crap radio in it. I usually keep my car park in my drive way and my 72 chevy truck in the garage. Well six months ago I was surfing the web at about 1AM, my dogs starting barking. I looked out the window and notice some guy standing next to my car. The guy was trying to open the car door. I opened the house door and I asked him "can I help you". Guy turned around and he pulled out something from his coat that look like a gun. I immediately closed the door and called the cops. It took the cops 20mins to arrive and the guy was long gone by then. I did not own any type of weapon when this incident happened. But now . It freaked me out to think that there was a guy out side with a gun and I don't have nothing inside my house to protect my family.

I Hatw theives... Abuddie of mine had his 68 in the parking lot and someone made off with the carb/air cleaner/dizzy and stereo stuff. The truck had a good alarm on it so the best we can tell it was someone who lived close by... Sorry about your loss.

Not a chance... I haven't had it hooked up in almost a year. You can't see any of it from inside or outside of the truck. The only thing that I have had hooked up in the past year is a cd player with some $40 pioneer 6 1/2's. I've always been cautious on drawing attention. I don't even pull up to a stop light with my stereo up loud enough to be audible even with the windows down.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I know i'm not alone with this. That's why i'm not upset about it. My girlfriend though... man she was freaking out. The only thing I could tell her is, "Look at it this way, I have AC now....."

ol skool 68, thanks for checking... I've got a couple of other pm's from a few more members. Let me know what you want for one of those if you get a chance.

Hotrod,

I am sorry to hear abot that crap! I HATE thieves with a passion!

Do you just need the wing window GLASS???

I have a couple of spares lying out in the bed of my parts truck....but the frames & rubber don't look so hot. If it's just the glass you need let me know...I'll send you one for the shipping cost. Do you need tinted or clear? I don't remember which ones I have out there, but I can check in the morning...and verify the condition of the glass.
