I know this should probably go in the engine board but i'll try it here.......i just want your guys opinions and experiences with the edelbrock 1406 im considering buying one of these for my truck (350 bored .060 over nothin to special) just cuz the q-jet is bout shot......

I haven't had a single problem with any of them. I have 3 on trucks right now. The only thing to remember is to get the insulated spacer or a phenolic spacer because they will heat sink on a hot manifold.

I had the Q-Jet. (it was weary). Threw on the 1406 and Vroom Vroom. Added obvious performance increases to my low & mid range and SOUNDS GREAT! Throaty intake rush when in secondaries!

Built like yours. Should be sweet!

I did have one go bad and start leaking gas but i exchanged it and havent put the new one on yet because the quad is running great and gets better mileage,eventually i will change back to get the power back up.

Had edelbrocks on every truck, and I will continue the tradition. Have a 750'electric choke carb sittin under the bead for the caddy motor.

I had bad luck with mine. I boughtit for my 84 C20 but I think it's just a bad one right from the factory. My dad has one on his 383 and it's great.

I bought an edelbrock carb 1406 and intake performer from ebay. Both used. I recently installed them on my truck and they sure work better than the stock intake and the Q-jet. Major difference. I like it.

i bought one this one time and three days after installing it my truck burnt up. so im not sayin it was the carburators fault but thats just my luck with it...haha you know what im talkin about Kevin

I use them on everything I build. Never had a more reliable carburetor.

I run 1 on my 350 bored 60 over and never had a problem yet 4yrs. I did have to get a calibration kit for it when I first got it to make it run right.

i have a carter comp 600 almost the exact same thing and love it.

Same as kaycee, I had to recalibrate the last three I have used. They were all rich out of the box, but then again I am at 5800' elevation. I have a 1406 on the 68, the 70 K10 has a 1405 that I just put an electric choke on, and my old 454 dually had a 1407 (750 cfm).. Once recalibrated, they have been the most reliable street carb I have ever used.

There good for out of the box bolt on Ive installed many of them and most times its adjust the idle speed and thats it . Nowhere near as good for MPG as a q-jet

I ran my 1405 On my 85 C20 it went from 13 with a q-jet to 9 althou it ran awhole lot better it decreased mileage

The 1406 has been a good carbuerator on my 72, and this truck sees a lot of steep mountain trails and rough roads.

Though probably not a concern to you, 70cst10_05, the 1405/6 carbs need off-road, spring-loaded needle seats put in for off-camber/steep hill driving to keep the float from overflowing. Good, streetable carb. I like the perf from the one I have installed.
