No, what's the advantage? Seems like you'd want to keep the ci.

BTW welcome to the board from South Mississippi. What part of the country are you from?

I read an article in a Chevy magazine (can't remember which one now) with a comparision of a 377 and a 383. I had read this before I put a 383 in my truck 2 years back. They did a dyno test with the same parts on each motor.

Like Ron said the 377 is a faster revving motor. If memory serves me correct, the 377 had more top horsepower, maybe 10 horse more. The 383 had more torque coming in sooner and peaked at maybe 15 ft. lb more than the 377.

But the end result were 2 motors that were very similar in power each with its slight advantages. But again its how you build a motor and how each reacts to differing parts.

Please correct me if I'm wrong..

Im from Western Kentucky. Yes, as in an earlier post it is a terminator. I love this motor. I am running around 475hp. My truck is set up to look like a sleeper. Nobody has been able to beat my truck. Racing camaros, mustang with a 351 stroker, novas, and antoher 69 truck with a built 400. The motor loves RPM's. The power really kicks in at 3500-7000. Note: 7000 is has high as i have got it but it was pulling as hard at 7000 as it was at 3500. Also I love 67-72 c10's they rock

i know a little bit about motors, but not much, a 350 has a smaller bearing than a 400, so when putting a 350 crank into a 400, are the bearings thick to make up the difference???

you can buy thicker bearings but that equals more money. It is cheaper just buy buy bearing spacers which what i used. Spacers just sets in like a bearing and then put bearing on top of that then put crank in. Easy.

you can also put a 327 or a 283 crank in a 400. This is extreme high revving stuff. I know someone that used a 400 with a 327 crank for circle track. That thing would SCCCRREEEEEAAAMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!
