Question concerning bolts for frame

I'm getting ready to swap out my 3/4 ton suspension for a 1/2 setup and I will have to remove the crossmember rivets. I'm going to use a 7/16 bolt with a flat and lock washer but was wondering if I should go with grade 5 or 8? And should I consider using the nylock nuts instead or use some red threadlocker?

Thanks, and have a safe and happy thanksgiving!

Here we go again. I agree with the grade 8 and going with either the nylon lock nuts or thread locker will be fine. I'm using the nylon locking type but in stainless steel.

Take a look here-grade 5 vs grade 8 bolts
And here-can Gd 8 bolt replace crossmember rivet?

Thanks for the replies. It wasn't until I submitted my post that I realized that someone had asked the same question earlier...

thanks again.

68jimmy, no problem and don't take it wrong. There's been a few "discussions" about the difference between grade 5 and grade 8 and also the use of stainless. I think for the most part everyone is on the same page.
