windshield trim
The windshield on my 68 has the chrome trim on it currently. I am installing a new windshield and was considering buying the weatherstrip with out the groove for the chrome trim and doing away with it. If I do this will it look as if the trim had never been there or with there be some imprection or something? Thanks

I did the same thing. Two types of windsheild gasket are available, standard (without grooves for chrome trim) and Custom (with grooves) Use the standard and you'll never know there used to be trim there. $38.50+shipping at Classic Heartbeat where I bought mine.
Good luck EDIT: The short answer is no, theres no indication that anything should be there. Last edited by TugOwar; 11-30-2004 at 03:56 PM. |

I don't exactly know the answer, but I'd just keep the deluxe trim around the windshield. I think it looks a lot better than the non-trimmed windshields. Do you have the trim around your back window? If so then there's more reason to keep it on the front.

I just replaced my windshield. OK, had replaced but I helped! I took out my trim a couple of weeks before and did a pretty good job of buffing it out with a buffing wheel and the stainless rouge?/polish? I'm glad I re-used it. It looks great.
Tug is right. You will never know it was there if you use the non-trim gasket.
