I bid on a 69 long stepside he had awhile back but it ended up going for over a hundred bucks.

that is amazing! i wish any of my models would come out that realistic. i have one 72 that i made into a short box, will work on pics. the suspension is articulating like a rock crawler and it has 36 in swampers on it. p[retty decent model. steering arms are there, spark plug wires, gear shift and turn signal. always nice to see i am not the only grown up kid

do a search for rusted out models. There are some people that make rust holes in the "eyebrows" of 50's cars, rust out the lower 1/4 panels, make pinholes in the decklids and such, and make the whole thing look grimy. Back in the day, when I was really into this, the thing to do was to turn the car upside down and blow clearcoat on it, then take talcum powder in your hands and blow on the bottom of the car to give it the road grime and grease coated look. Some of the guys even took that "carpet" powder that you can use to make real looking carpet and wore out spots below the pedals and such like a foot was there for 300,000 miles. they'd sand the tires bald and one guy even stuck one on a really hot plate to melt it into a flat tire. They realistically crack the plastic windows and such. There was even one guy I remember that cut a door off of one of the cars, made teeny hinges and the full door panel and inner 1/4 panel that you would see in a door jamb and made the door sagging open. Rusto models are the schyt.
