5 speed manual trans for 67-72

I will appreciate any info about posible bolt-in replacement of original 4 speed gearboxes with the 5 speed New Venture trans used in Chev trucks in the 90s. I have been told that the NV 3500 series is an easy fit replacement.

Does this work? Any serious wrinkles or mods involved? Is there a 4wd model of these units? Do they have PTO access?

Thanks for any expert help.

I am not sure about the NV3500 but the NV4500 does have 2 pto ports. Both the 3500 and 4500 were available in 2wd and 4wd models.

Hopin`for more info here.I plan the same swap in the future.I have an NV4500 from a`95 4wd that I will eventually install in my`72 K/20 CustomDeluxe since it`s a manual 4spd.Actually,the 5spd will be sittin`behind the 6.5TD from same truck.

I had an 89 Chevy with a 305 that had a Getrag 5-speed. It should bolt right up.

Good luck.

Advance Adapters makes a kit to install the NV-4500 if you want to keep your mechanical clutch linkage.

I have a T5, too. I don't think it would take the beating of 4 wheeling and it does not have PTO. But it's gr8 on the hiway.
