Installing my 99 Silverado 40/20/40 seats

Here are some pics of the 40/20/40 seats I got from a 99 Silverado that are going in my 69 K20. The current pics show the seats sitting as designed, that is, the driver and passenger seat front brackets are designed to sit on top of the center seats brackets.

If I mounted the seats like above I would use a larger 1" spacer than you see to be safer.

These seats put you closer to the dash as you can see in the next two pics. I am right at 6' and would have trouble if I were much taller. I will be using a tilt so that will help. Seats are so comfortable I will give up a little leg room for the seat comfort.

The last pic shows them with the brackets in different postions than designed so the driver and passenger front seat brackets are positioned better on the floor. I think this is how I will actually mount them.

Cool, I want to put late-model silverado seats in my truck too...I think if you had the full bench seat you can bolt the 67-72 brackets to the seat....good luck with your install.....where did you get the white face gages?????

Yukon,
I have been hoping you would share your experince with these seats!
Thanks for the pics!
Now for a quesiton: how is that seating position going to be for lifting your left foot up to the clutch? It looks like an awkward movement to me from the pictures, but would like to hear your comments.

Thanks,
Chris

The clutch movement will be better than the pic shows as I am using a hydraulic clutch so I don't need much pedal movement. I can adjust my push rod some so the pedal is closer to the firewall. The pic shows the pedal in the normal at rest position. I can probably get it about 2" closer to the firewall.

Even if it I wasn't using a different clutch setup, I think it is still doable but definitely not as comfortable as with the stock seat. I guess everything has trade offs when you change stuff.

Hey Yukon Jack. Offbeat question but what did it cost you to buy all of the Auto-Meter white face Phantom gauges and where did you buy them? I want the same setup you have for my Blazer.

I just finished putting a 96 model 60/40 seat in the HD truck and left the gas tank in the cab,I slit the set bracket where I lost 2 1/2 inches in height so the seat would set alittle lower in the truck. I was well pleased with how the seat and seatbelts turned out,I'll try to post some pics. been home sick for a couple days so it might the weekend before I get around to it! Yukon your seat look good I was just wondering with having all that room with no gas tank can you slide the seat back alittle or will that work right because those brackets are different than the ones I've worked with?

great info yukon, thanks. i've got the same setup out of an 02 that'll go in over christmas break. what kind of washers are you planning on using on the underside of the floor? and is there room for some big ones?

i'm thinking i'll lean towards some overkill on the washers since with the seat belts in the seats those washers are what would be holding me in the truck in an accident

I have some flat aluminum stock that I am going to cut down to about 3" x 3" and round the edges. That ought to make a good sandwich of metal.

My height is pretty good so don't think I will go to the trouble of cutting the brackets down.

I have tons of space behind the seats where the tank would be but with the seats angled where you would want them, I can't move the whole seat assembly back any further. Could house some huge subwoofer's back there if I ever wanted to.

Yep, I think anyone much bigger than 6' is gonna want more room. Maybe the 40/60's fit better.
