Exclamation Suburban Plastic Model(UPDATED PICS...)

Here is a little project I started working on today. I have it roughed in right now. I will post more pics when I get further along with it.

Would anyone be interested in purchasing one of these as a resin cast body to use on the current AMT 72' Chevy model? I was thinking of seeing if I could get someone to pull a mold off of my master when finished... If I could garner some interest in it, I will do it. Price could be up to $50 for a body from these guys though

Whoa!!

That is some skills! Keep up the good work. I might be interested in a completed model of my 4x4 when done (painted to match) I wonder what a custom complete order might run?

Great progress, thanks.

I was thinking about the same thing three weeks ago. Even made some rough drawings and a parts list but that was as far as I got.

I was going to scratch build an interior tub from sheet styrene & scribe it for the interior, use a piece of balsa for the rear floor, and I am also going to make a rear A/C unit too. I am also going to put in a bigblock and some other stuff from my parts box(kit only comes w/smallblock). Figured I would build it as I want my 71 to look when it's done to give me a little incentive to finish the 71.

I was thinking of emailing Modelhaus and a couple other resin body manufacturers about the possibility of them making it in resin... I asked them before when I did my 73 Nova model and they weren't too enthused...

cheyenne10 - I saw a guy on Ebay a while ago selling built up models(finished decent with some detailing done). I think he was in the $100.00 range for one from an off the shelf kit. Some of the resin kits are up there for a probuilt as resin is not easy to work with... Here is a Jimmy Flinstone resin cast "Arnie Beswick" 63 Tempest altered wheelbase car that I built almost 15 years ago. Resin kit cost $65 then(plastic kit was $5.00 at Kmart) and took me 3 months to build with most of the chassis & interior being scratch built(not by choice either, poor quality casting wouldn't fit)...

Here's a brief update. I've been talking to Don Holthaus from the Modelhaus. They make fantastic resin kits. He is going do a resin cast conversion kit for the AMT 72 Chevy Longbed kit that was just reissued(HINT- GO BUY ONE NOW TO KEEP IN STOCK!) using my body & interior tub. I tried talking him into having the emblems photo etched on one sheet to cover ALL Sub's from 67-72 but the cost was out of this world. So, I will be doing it with the 71/2 Custom Deluxe/10 emblems without upper & lower mouldings. Interior will be front & second seat, no third seat. It will have the 71 doorpanels also. He tells me he should have them ready to go by the summer so you have time to save up.... No idea on pricing yet(shouldn't be too much as there isn't anything that needs to be chromed and no glass to vaccumm form), I don't have any control over it and I won't be getting anything out of it either(just the satisfaction of building it!)

Keep you posted...
Joe
