How much should I ask for my truck if I sell?

I'm thinkin' of selling my '70 C-10 to pick up a '69 C-20 3/4 ton stepside with a LWB. I dig the stepsides more. The link below will take you to some pics and the gory details. How much should I ask for this old beast?

green68c10, location has a lot to do with value. In a place like the southwest or surrounding areas you might be able to get it a bit cheaper because you are likely to find one of these trucks alot easier. Then again due to location it may be in much better condition. Whereas up here in the northeast it is rare to find one of these trucks period, especially in good rust free condition.
It's all about supply and demand and it definately varies from region to region.

I would definately say that dyingdeadman's offer may be a little modest though. The truck looks like it's in pretty good condition, plus it runs and like notmycity says it's relatively unmolested. Then again I haven't seen it in person.

sry I just got back to this thread. I based that on the fact that I live in texas and have seen many trucks go for around that price in this area. I only paid $900 for mine.
of course it does have a lot to do with what area you are in. if in the north east or any place where rust gets its hands on these and eats them away it will probely be worth more.

in either case it looks to be a nice truck.

Without having many detailed pics, its hard to tell, but I would think that dyingdeadman is pretty close on his estimate.

Yeah, it's tough to tell and i'm sure that you guys are right on with your price considering it's a Texas truck, where relatively speaking these babies are a dime a dozen. Trust me, around here you would be able to fetch more for it.
I bought mine for $600, + tax of course, and my truck wasn't running at the time, the rockers were non-existant, the corners were close too. It also needs alot of interior work and the bedsides aren't too bad but the bed floor is pretty shot. She does have promise though and I saw that and rescued her from the rear of a garage wrecker business. Let me see if I can attach a pic or two to give you guys some comparison. I haven't done this in awhile so I can't promise anything.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm in PA. The truck was built in NY, and though there is a little rust here and there (including previous rust repair), it's a very solid bod, and I've had many positive comments to the effect.

I bought it because I needed something to haul my music gear, and we had just sold a station wagon I used previously.

My wife, son and I really like the truck, and my wife named it "ol' blue".

The only kicker is the manual steering. I have some old elbow injuries that sometimes make it a bit tricky to park in tight spots, and I also prefer the step sides.

I know the fleetside has more cargo space, but I'm not touring any more, hence, there's no longer a need for the extra cargo room.

PA huh, what part are you from? I was born and raised in Philly.

What kinda truck are you looking for? And in what condition? They are kinda tough to find around here. I have a 67 stepside in my garage but I started to take it apart and I sold the bed because I just don't have time to work on it. I also have a 79 in decent condition that I want to get rid of but it would need a little work. Just checking to see if you would do a trade and some cash for her but i'm sure with a family and all you probably don't have copious amounts of free time to be messing with these things. I also have a 67 c-20 lwb but I was planning on semi-restoring that one.

Thanks for posting my pics.

I’m in Bucks County, not far from Philly. As far as what kind of truck I’m looking for.......

Preferably a LWB step side, ‘62- ‘72...maybe up to ‘75. Power steering is a must, and it should be a daily driver. I’ll take a nicer “fair” condition to about a “20 footer”, and I have 2-4k, plus my trade.

As far as working on the truck, I used to do muscle cars in the eighties (‘67 RS Camaro, ‘67 Malibu, a couple of ‘65 SS Impalas, etc.) Unfortunately I don’t have the facilities and all the tools I once had. I’m talking motor rebuilds, swapping out motors, trannys, lots of body work jobs, etc.

I’ve had a desire to geta Chevy I could work on, and I’ve always dug the older trucks.

There’s a guy who has a ‘69 step side with a lwb and he’s asking 3500.00. It supposedly runs and looks good, but we all know pics help determine whether it’s worth a half day round trip to check it out.

Cool, you're not far from where I used to live. Actually most of my family still lives in Philly and my sister lives in Feasterville which is a bit closer to you than Philly. That's cool that you used to rebuild muscle cars. My brother in law is currently working on a 67 camaro and my step father has a 78 vette pace car with all of it's original equipment even the tires (probably has like 10K original miles on it). I have a family full of classic car lovers. I love classic cars but I think that i'm the only one that really loves trucks too. I know that i've seen a couple of trucks for sale around here too and in the NY area. It's not much of a ride I drive down to Philly all of the time. Let me see if I can dig up those classifieds for you.

Being originally from PA, the other side of the state though, your truck looks pretty good for salt world. Looks like a good truck and if it has been reliable for you, I agree with junkyardjohn, chekc out the venders and all and get the parts to put power steering on it. I've been doing it for my 70 (only a 250 six though). I picked up everything but my steering box through the board members reasonably. You know what you have with old blue, so you might think that way.

BTW your truck has character with that cap.
