Nice Find

Picked up a parts truck and found a little gem burried in the leaves on the floor board

Interesting. Air Press guage, huh? That's one of my 67-72 Chevy knowledge gaps. Please, educate me on their original use.

And do you think that gauge lens will clean up well enough to use? I see the air hose fitting. Any way to easily check if the guage functions?

And was that parts truck PO into brake cooling?

I'm not that educated on that subject either, I know they were used on the larger trucks,I'mm going to clean up this weekend.
It's amazing what some people will do with a torch and welder

i'm not positive, but i think they were used on trucks with air brakes.

Yeah i saw that listing on ebay. The 1st guy was one of those European scam artist who tried to buy it with a cashiers check for over the amount and wanted cash back.

No...that air pressure gauge monitored the remote pressure sensors that were located inside each tire. The total amount of pressure for all tires was indicated on the needle or gauge. Any takers? LOL.

Yes the air gauge is for the big trucks (C50,C60,C70) with air brakes. Notice that the notch for the steering column is not cut out all the way. This can be trimed to fit. My dad has a few dump trucks he uses and a few parts trucks. One of them is a 70 C60 with air brakes and a 366 big block. It has the air gauge and a huge engine driven compressor. The gauge would be cool in a air ride C10. The compressor sits above the engine on the pass side and would not fit under the hood of a pickup but it could be moved to the side of the engine. I got a vacuum gauge out of another C60 427 truck we had to bad neither truck had a tach or speed warning. Other cool and more common dump truck paarts are radio delete plate, and cowl w/o antena hole. Some day after I get my 67 C10 swb fleetside finished I would like to build one and use that tall deck 427. Thats a cool engine that don't fit well in cars but can be fitted into a pickup.

If only one could find a guage lens that combines marks for a tach and the air pressure guage. That would be the set up for a manual trans, air-bagged C10. Does anybody custom mark 67-72 lenses with such a need?

Texas 68, post more pics once you have it cleaned up.

4x4poet thats what I was thinking. A person could cut and splice the air gauge lens and a tach lens together. I've seen this done with a vacuum gauge and you could not tell. Somewhere somebody has a stack of these NOS thinking no one would want one for a pickup.

I picked up one of those dashes one time with a tach and air gauge out of a big truck. I don't know what happened to the lense but I think I still have the air gauge somewhere. I used the tach setup in a truck I had at the time but I did not use the lense or air gauge. I bought a new lense for the tach. It would be cool if you had bags.

Maybe you could sell it to someone that uses an air suspension. They could use it to monitor air pressure. That would be cool and stock looking at the same time.

I found one in a junk yard here a few years ago, cleaned it up and installed a new bezel, I think I sold it for 90 bucks or so on here...no tach, just air pressure. Got it off a 70 C/50 tandem axle bobtail truck. (small gas powered semi)

That would be great for tank pressure. You still need gauges for bag pressure though...

What did that tach come out of originally? It looks about right for a V-6.

Why do that.Most of the larger trucks with air brakes had tachs in the dashes.I had a tandum 70 gravel truck and a parts cab with this dash in it.Also had a c-60 with thatdash in it.Took the parts cab to the wrecker with the dash and man i am kicking my butt now
