Rear Main Seal install

Shoooo,,, it has been a month since i have been able to log onto this board???? Why i have no idea,, but was able to log in tonight. My question is as follows,,, Can a rear main seal be replaced on an 83' gmc full size 1/2 ton automatic 305 without jacking up the motor???? Will the pan clear the oil pump pickup and crossmember simultaneously?????? Also,,, has anyone ever had any success with the new one piece oil pan gaskets???? P.S. is the rear main the only thing that would leak without the engine running??? quite a bit of oil is dripping down onto my crossover pipe then the ground. The truck has hardly been driven.

The oil pan should clear, if I remeber correctly, and yes, get the fel pro one piece gasket....it is WELL worth the money...I have used them several times now, and I believe Fel Pro has found a winner!

Ok guys, can you give a little more info on how to do this? Mine is leaking too. I have heard it can be done with the two piece, how do I get it done if I buy a Fel pro?

Thanks, Doug
