Exterior paint color ideas
I'm looking to paint the truck and was wanting some ideas on a color that would match the original green interior....I was thinking about doing the stock look...original olive green with the top portion of the cab white..What do ya'll think. Here a pic of the interior

I think that would be great....
stick with the original olive green, with the white cab top and you will be set. With your truck lowered the way it is it will garner alot of attention. Regards, Stace |

Fantastic idea. I think you hit the nail on the head. I love the olive green more than any other 67-72 color. I think olive gets a bad rap because so many form opinions from old, faded originals. (No one on this BB, I'm sure ). New olive paint looks stunning.
And you're right on (man) with the idea for a white top. The olive green does not look right without a section of the truck in white to enrich the olive color. Without a white contrast, the olive lacks brightness and pop. Think of the two-tone olive/white trucks. The white side section subtly brings out the olive color. Even olive Blazers/Jimmys had a white top to set off the all-olive painted metal. I would bring the white down the back of the cab to the color break point (that's prolly what you meant, exactly). While olive is beautiful, it is one the most subtle earth colors that needs help to work on a truck. I don't think a car could work with olive. But trucks are associated with the outdoors for classic work or 4x4 reasons. And the outdoors have nothing but earth colors. Just add the white top, as planned, unless you decide to go two-tone along the sides which is even more asthetically pleasing but requires dual side molding to cover the color breaks.

Stick with the dark olive green and a white top! Of course I am alittle partial to that combination if you look at my avatar.

I like the olive with white top and center. Not sure if your truck is set up for the extra color break though

I like the green to. Nice to see someone else has the crooked gas pedal. I took mine off today, I gave up for awhile. Has anyone thought of sketching one of our trucks, at least a side view, so we can color it in and see how it would look? I'd do it, but it'd look like a boxcar. Even my trees do.....

The truck above is dark olive. A nice color, but 2low72's interior is just olive. I would paint the entire truck olive. No white top. I don't care for it, personally.
By the way, what happened to the glove box door? |

Must have hit one too may passengers knees. It's like a initiation in my truck, someone always hits the button and gets nailed in the knee. It's getting kind of creepy though because a few of them are doing it on purpose now.....

I never thought much of olive until I saw a restored swb '70 GMC at a car show last summer. It was all green but had both upper and lower trim and it was just beautiful. I think the color suits these trucks very well...get a nice spray and I am sure you will be happy with the result.

Definitly go with the green.... Dark or not! you won't be disappointed with it. It seems like every car show I take my truck to, Someone is always complimenting on the colour! And I like the look of all one colour or with the white top and sides, or just the white top...etc.... It's a 67-72 can any truck look better?!

Dark green is a forest color that seems more at home in the woods. Nice truck, BTW. Have you ever noticed it looks better in nature settings, especially forests, while loud street scene colors, especially with flames, stripes, etc., look ridiculous out in the wilderness? The same goes for Jeeps, FJ40s, etc. I like both the dark green and the olive green trucks. Great colors. And if I can chance a "macho" comment, they're great truck colors for a man. Anything but peach (just kidding, FCG ) My uncle bought a dark green 71 GMC 4x4 fleetside new for use at Tahoe. I loved that truck.
