saddle tanks question

the glove box sticker shows aux saddle tanks as an option that is on my truck. My question is do both tanks have sending units installed. I am currently only running on the behind seat in cab tank because when I bought the truck it sat for a long time. Tanks need removed and flushed. There is a selector switch on the dash.I think that it has a short because I have to mess with it to get the correct reading on the cab tank. There is a 3 way switch on the floor near the drivers side.

If there is a switch on the dash (left of the instrument panel) there should be a sending unit in at least the left tank. How is the right (passenger side) tank filled? Your driver side tank should fill through the side of the box at the same height as the cab tank. You should be able to crawl under the truck and see if there is a wire running to the right side tank, that would indicate the presence of a sending unit. The factory setup was the left side tank only, the right side was probably added at the dealership or later by a previous owner. Usually a setup like yours will have a sending unit in the left tank and nothing in the right. Your dash switch should only have two positions, one for the in-cab tank and one for the left tank.

Some dealer installed or aftermarket setups have senders and a three way switch. Does your switch have a black knob on it like the other dash knobs?

No 'black knob' switch....I installed a 3 position switch under lip of instrument panel; wired to existing fuel quanity gauge and to each tank.

my dash has the black knob with main and aux. sticker above it.So you say that the dealer probably added on the passenger side tank. There seemed to be a few dealer add ons to this truck. The over cab running lights, the front bumper guards, the unity spotlight thru the window, the trans . cooler set up , and last the air horns on top of the cab.I forgot to mention the spear on the hood .
