question on steering coupler shaft
when I bought my truck I drove it for a few months. then it went to a body shop (nightmare of a story) well when i got my truck back from the body shop,(house of horror) it came backto me as a jigsaw puzzle. now to my question, dont mean to be windy here. but what or is there a electrical connection to the steering coupler because I see like a broken bare wire on one of the mount bolts.

I've seen some of the steering rag joints with copper bonding straps on them. I beleive it's to help ground the column to the chassis, not sure though. This thin peice of sheet copper bridges across the rag joint and keeps the steering gearbox shaft and the intermediate steering shaft at the same electrical potential.

because to add to your input sweet, witch I know that you said the wire was flat braided, yes it is, so we are talking about the same wire. In LMC they list 3 diffrent type of coupler dealing what type of transmissions, and intergral power steering. what the heck does intergral power steering mean?

LMC Truck defines "integral" & "linkage" system PS in a box on p. 132 of their catalog CB.38.
Integral System: PS pump is connected to the steering gear by two hoses. Linkage System: PS pump hoses connect to the control valve, not the steering gear.
