My First Truck!

Hello everyone. Here is my first car. Its an '87 Chevy Silverado K10 with the 305 ci 5.0L TBI. My grandfather gave it to me as a gift, and I am very greatful for it. Here are some pictures...

Since these pic's were taken, I took off the bug deflector and I'm about to take off the side steps. Please let me know what ya'll think. Thanks.

Wertzy, welcome to the forum! I think you have a very nice Grandfather. Yeah the bug deflector needed to go, and the steps will help too.

Oh yeah, it's a "truck" not a car.... :p

very clean ride! was it your grandpa's truck, or was it bought specifically for you? my '77 K20 belonged to my grandpa, there's only one way you'll ever get me to part with it... pry the keys from my cold dead hand. its got a whole lot more sentimental value than everything i've ever owned combined.

Although nobody bought my truck or owned it before me except the guy I bought it from, it being my first truck besides my 83 GMC which I didn't like, and I won't ever sell my 85, only way anybody is getting is if i'm dead also

Once you remove the bug guard and running boards and its time for tires, go up a size or two. It will give the truck a lot more attitude! Looks sweet for a first second, third.... or whatever ride!!!

bad idea. those look like about 235 75 15s, and if it has a 700R4 its likely to have 2.73 gears. a bad combo in itself, add more tire, and the trans wont last long at all. leave it stock, or sling a set of gears at it (maybe cheaper to swap axles?) then upgrade the tires.

Wow so many welcomes. I have a feeling I'm going to like this place.

Yeah, I've already heard it about the running boards. LOL. I'm also thinking about taking off the mud flaps too.

I believe my grandpa was the sole owner of this. I might be wrong. He's had it for a while, thats all I know.

Hopefully after christmas I'll have the cat-back dual exhaust on it.

Welcome... Im a little late, but thats alright.

All I can say is, be very very careful when you add modifications to that truck, and dont do anything to it that you havent thought out. I would hate to accidentally mess up a centimental piece like that.

So your trying to say its a farm truck? :p I've gotten that from like 10 people now. The running boards, bug deflector, and mud flags are gone. Its friggin cold and snowing out right now so I can't get pics. I don't want to freeze to death.
