Should I expect rust in window frame area? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi all. I am going to have my new front and back window gaskets redone soon, and I was wondering how often these places rust out? My floor, cab corners, rockers, etc have holes, so should I expect some damage? Are these areas fixable? Thanks.

yes expect it. mine has rust in both front and back frames

It`s 50/50.The lower body rust is not related.But,there`s been plenty of(otherwise)rust-free trucks that have rust here.Especially if it`s been sitting.Visa-versa is true to.

I did on my original cab. Kept getting water in the floorboard and couldn't find where from. After the windshield came out I found that on the bottom of the channel on both side there's a spot were there's a gap. It's a small area like a inch or so. When you get the window out look in the corners and you'll see what I'm talking about. The seal was in god condition but somehow water was getting behind it and coming through there.

I had leaks in my back window. Pulled the window and found rust holes along the top. Yes, that's where the water seemed to collect. Bottom of the window opening was fine. Pulled the windshield and all was fine. I suggest you expect and plan for the worst. At least that way you stand a chance of a pleasant surprise instead of an ugly one.

You might get lucky.Just had a new windshield installed recently on the 70 Dually..........No rust, that was a nice surprise.......
