Will a mid 80's front clip fit a '77?

Just wondering. When I get ready to replace my '77 hood and fenders. Will a later model (up to 1987) front clip bolt on? Thanks.

ive done the swap the other way and i think you can do it but you will need to do some modification to the hood hinges... also i found the wiper assembly in the cowl need to be swapped out to the same generation of the nose the stubs that the wiper arms are mounted to are a different length the newer ones are longer than the older ones. Also the newer models have a seperate cowl as opposed to a hood that covers the cowl so youwould have to mount that... im sure someone has done it here so do an archives search and see what they say

A buddy of mine bought a 79 with a mid 80's clip on it, but no idea how easy it was to do that.

There is a post on the Colorado K5 sight that tells how to do it. In addition to the wiper drive swap, you have to cut slots in the cowl for the 81-87 hinges.

modifications to the 73-80 Cab are necessary for the hood hinges and the front edge of the frame horns to mount the bumper brackets.. Not a real big deal though. Sawzall, whizzer wheels, sabre saw Etc. I guess a can opener would work if you were desperate ;-) Everything must change though-rad support, inner fenders, brackets Etc. . best to get an entire front clip,DAVE
