You probobly have some crud built up in the column. Clean it out and spray some Tri Flow on all the moving parts. Does the trick on the wife's '63.

How did you finally fix this? Mine is stuck also. It also appeared to start happening when it started getting cold.

My grease was gummed up on the top between the shift socket and column. Remove steering wheel and turn signal unit and wires remove shift lever then the socket. Clean and lube with white grease and your're good to go.

littlemike,
Are you going to part yours out? I have been looking for one and am interested. Also, what color is yours? Does the wheel come with it? Please let me know. Thanks! |

Clean the unit up as stated. You might also find that the shifter bushings on the shift arms of the tranny are shot.I replaced mine and it made a huge difference in the tightness of the shifts also.
