S-10 weatherstrip question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I picked some up at the junk yard yesterday, and it goes on real good and all, butit seems too short. Like if it was cut at the bottom, there would be a inch gap or so. Is that right? Or is it short because this is on a Panel, with the square door corner?

Not mine that I got from GMC Pauls. Fits perfect on one side with no trimming and was 2" too long on the other side....so I trimmed.

Hey Pritch, how did the S-10 seals work on the upper rear corner of the door frames (with the 90 deg. angle)? I've got a Burb and have been considering using the S-10 seals, but have not heard from anybody with a Burb/Panel that has used them.

If you had to cut a mitre for your 90 there's probly some type of glue available to make it look & work ok. Getting 2 nice 45 deg cuts might be the hardest part. And another thing,,Why is there no key to make that little circle thing for degree's?

You do not have to cut the 90's...I just pushed the S-10 weatherstrip up hard into the corner and continued my way around. One door can be completely installed in less than 10 min.

Pritch, the seals pulled from an S-10 will be short due to the size difference between the door size off an S-10 vs full size. The aftermarket seals come long (for an S-10)and require trimming to install. If you want to keep the used seals, I would just get another foot or so of seal to fill in the gap.

Ya-that's the answer I was looking for. When I grabbed these up, It was just kind of an experiment to see if they really would work, not that I had any doubts, of course. The square corner is a little weird, but you can't see it from the outside and it's not to noticeble on the inside. These will do for now, but I'll get new one's for permanent.
