Securing a Title for 1950 pickup?

I picked up a 1950 1/2 ton cheap. Real cheap but the owner bought it from a scrap yard in the eighties for detail parts for his pickup. He never got a title. Is there any way I can get a title for this truck. I found the tag in the driver doors jamb. I just need to get a title for it before I get into the project. Any ideas? BranZ
