Have any of you ever done this?
I am taking the AC out of my truck & have already taken out the condenser but Ive been thinking of puting it back in as a trans cooler. It would make a nice big cooler but dont know if it would work for sure. Any reason this wouldnt work?...
Merry X-mas to all of you...corn |

if you dont live where it gets info freezing (sub zero) temps on a regular basis, you wont have any problems with over cooling. It would be a good idea to run the tranny lines thru your radiator at some point, to warm up the ATF faster. cooler -> radiator, or radiator -> cooler is debatable.... either would work well

I cant say forsure but arent the coils to small and restrict the flow or something? I myself would get a permacool transmission oil cooler. There external transmission filter system with transmission temp gauge is pretty sweet.

Ive got an external cooler on it now (along with the radiator cooler) but I just thought the bigger cooler would be a cleaner install. Plumbcut's idea of warming it a bit through the radiator is a good idea. The whole gauge/external filter thing would be REAL cool but it just goes against my "cheap bas+ard" ways! Thanks guys...corn

I Ran An A/C Evap Coil As A Cooler For A Few Years .. It Was An UnderDash Setup Coil So It Had 3/8 Or Close To It Hose Barb Type Fittings Worked Good But Was Large And Fugly Now I Run A PermaCool GoodStuff.
But The A/C Coil Did Its Job For Several Years The Friend I Sold It To Is Still Running It As Long As You Have The Tranny Lines Go Trou The Radiator Cooler It Wont Get Too Cold .. Mine Go Straight To The Cooler And Ive Never Had A Problem |
