Coolant Capacity

Haynes manual says 18 quarts. Just wondering if that is right with 3 core radiator. I thought I got all the coolent out last time but I didnt so now there is too much water in the system not enough antifreeze. Need to drain it all again do it right. I guess Im going to go 70/30 mix.

Why don't you just check to see if you have enough antifreeze to protect the coolant to the desired temp with a hydrometer. If not, drain a gallon and add a gallon of antifreeze and check again.I'd think another gallon would be plenty.

Good Luck

Tom

It was totally drained, I don't have a hydrometer at my house. I was just wondering if that was correct and if it made a difference for a three core radiator.

I found out that the coolant was a slushy from the night it went to -16. That's when I started it up and it didn't take very long at all to start flowing again. So then I drained all the coolant from the radiator and block to save it from freezing. I'm glad I did the next night it went to -19. I got some off brand coolent to use for a little bit so I can flush it out. Best time to flush it dead middle of winter when its forcasted to be 60 out right? lol

Thanks for the reply.
