What did you get done (or what did you buy your truck) Christmas edition!

Since I may be in late this evening I thought I would start this early before I'm go to church. With the holidays going on I doubt anyone did much truck related. If you didn't work on your truck, show us what you bought for your truck.....

Found out that my blazer only needs a new cable for the rear window to work. Also, Christmas eve i sold my 85K10 I took $4800 for it, then about 30 min. later the lousy bas**** called me back and said he sold it to his friend for $6500. I guess I cant complain, I just wanted to unload the truck asap, and I did, and got back a little more than i put into it!
RIP 85!
Heres a pic....

December was a great month: I finally got a 2 post lift I've always dreamed of and got the shop insulated last week. I bought my lovely wife a Miller/Hobart plasma 625 for Christmas and she said I can use it as long as I get her permission first

only thing i did truck related this weekend was to start my old girl up and let her idle a bit. Shes been kinda parked since winter is real slow for me and i only run my truck for work and i let a crew go on rest from around thanksgiving to mid january when people start having their houses worked on again. I still havent changed out the transmission in her yet BUT i did run into the shop teacher where my son attends high school so it appears that as long as i can get the truck and the replacement transmisson to the school shop, they will do the actual work and my son ( who is as bad as i am about making sure stuff is done right) will help and supervise, so i wont have to crawl around on the ground doing it myself in the snow drifts...
The teacher also told me that they will be learning body work this year so i told them i volunteer the truck for the cab corners if they want to do that too.. this may all work out for the best lol
I also found the column for my 76 so ill buy that so we can make that a little more mobile. Once i get that in ill concentrate ont he transmisson and getting this thing mobile and sold
My son got the most car related gifts. I felt bad for him with the stock radio in his geo so before i put the monte carlo on the block i switched out the radio in it and had the radio c/d player installed in the geo and for christmas i got him new pioneer front and rear speakers and an intake kit . Christmas morning he was out there installing the new stuff and annoying the neighbors revving the motor and blasting the radio ( i guess the gear head gene was passed down the generations huh).
Now he needs seat covers and he wants a bazooka tube and amp lol his birthday is in april so we will see.. then we start the getting ready for my little girl to get on the road.. shes got her eye on a 95 honda civic but lol she can want all she wants lol
hope yall had a good holiday

My wife bought me a creeper but seeing as there is about 8 inches of snow on the ground I don't think I will be using it anytime soon. Although I bet it would work great in that shop in Jersey! I also received a book on everything you ever wanted to know about the Rochester carb. Maybe now I can fix it right (not)! Think Spring.

AirMale,... did you have to do anything special to the "concrete floor" to make the lift work. Extra footers, or thicker concrete in that spot? I want a lift in my future shop,... so I trying to plan for it now. I will be building in the spring. Any info would be GREAT! Also,... how big is your building? (sq./ft. and side wall height). Thanks, lolife99.

My daiughter got her aluminum toolbox for the 82, so I mounted it in an ice storm Christmas day. Today ran some engeine tests on it, as there is a real nice knock in the engine AGAIN. Knock-Knock

Yanked the bed off the 70 this evening and started cleaning it up for some welding.

Almost have the relatives gone

I got a 4.5 hp/21 gallon Central Pnuematic air compressor, air ratchet, cutter, and angle grinder. Going tomorrow to pick up a portable garage. (Gotta hide it from the snow somehow.) My dad is goin to get my this 3-piece cabinets and tool backboard kit when I go down to Arkansas in January. But the best gift of all was getting our power finally turned back on! 3 days without it, and I could see my breath inside. T'was a cold christmas.

The building is a miracletrus building and it is a 30X36 with 12ft. eaves. The trusses themselves sit on 30 inches deep of concrete in big sono-tubes. The floor is 6-8 inches steel reinforced everywhere and was machine finished to control porosity and helps clean up. This was probably overkill but I've always been that way. The guy who installed the lift said all that anyone really needed 4X4' that was 4-5" deep and that would support the columns perfect. For example he said he's put lifts in old garages that only had 2-3" of concrete but cut out two 4X4' sections and poured 6" in those areas where the columns will sit. Rent a concrete saw for a nice clean job. Anyone from this forum is welcome in my shop. No job too big!
