Will 73 up calipers bolt on the 71-72 spindles? I was told today they would, and just wanted to know for sure.So I thought I would ask you guys.

If you are changing the rubber brake lines that hook up to caliper maybe, but I do know that 71 1/2 ton uses different caliper than 72 because the hose hook up end is different. Just went through that!

They interchange onto the spindle. The difference is in the rubber hose and where it bolts to the caliper.

Thanks for the info guys.I had the same problem today.I busted a line, and of course they only carry the 72 hoses at any of the stores, prolly cause they are the same as the 73 and up hoses.
I had to buy a bandaid at a local junkyard to get back in buisness, but I am going to swap all the stuff out in the next week or so looks like.
Yup 71 calipers are different than 72 as I found out today. The 72 donor had no lines on it,it was just not a good day,too much

72 hoses are different than 73 and up hoses. The newer hoses are much longer. They have a bracket where they bolt to the upper control arm and they go further foward where they mount on the frame.

Re: Question about brake calipers

sorry to dig this old thread up, but it is exactly what i was wondering.
i just need some clarification, the 73 and up calipers will bolt onto the spindle (?) and the hose is different where it hooks to caliper, but what about where the rubber hose hooks to the hard line? would this be the same throughout?
im working with a 71
thanks
