Drip rail questions.......
Hey guys, I am putting plans together for my truck and am curious what you think about shaving the drip rails, I know its quite a job, does anyone have comments or pictures they can post? Thanks.

serious question...
I know that there is a LOT of talk about this now and then, and it is always considered to be a BIG job, so maybe someone who's done it can explain something to me.
It seems that it would be "simple" enough to get a sawzall and start by cutting it off about .25"-.3" from the cab, then grind/sand the rest of it down, no? Yet, all indications seem to go against it being that simple. Why is it not that easy? Thanks!

because its an area where 3 or four peices of metal join together so as you cut you have to weld the sections back up, iff you cut it all off before you wels it up the cab might tend to spring on you and screw up. ive never done this but ive read up on it a couple times -kyle

I had wanted to do it to my own truck, but I don't want to chance wrecking my perfect A/C cab.

the seam where your roof, sides and roof pillars all meet up at the drip rail, if you just cut it all off, the roof windshield posts and sides of the truck will just fall away from the cab, so if you were to do it, youd have to do it one small section at a time

So I guess the same is true for replacing a rusted one?Maybe just fix bad section.I have a truck from San Diego area(Beach Truck).It`s solid and rust-free except the drip rail over the drivers door(& some surface rust),DANG!!
