Tranny ?
Here gos I have a 3 speed and a Granny 4 and 3.73 posi the question is what trans do i use for better Hiway miles looked at all the books i have and not one has final gear ratio. If some one knows the ratio or can send me to a web site it would help alot.

the final drive ratios in both trannys is 1to1.the th350 and th400s have the same final drive ratios too.You could change to an overdrive tranny to get a lower final ratio.Or change the rear gear to a higher speed set to get better gas mileage.if you swap gears you will lose some bottom end power.

3rd gear in a 3 speed is 1:1 and 4th gear in a 4 spd is 1:1, so either one will work. It just depends on where you want to shift, on the column or on the floor. You could always put the 3 speed shifter on the floor too.

Brings up another question does any one have a 3 speed OD tranny like the ones that were in 57 chevys with the cable for the OD.
