Cupholders

What has everyone done for cupholders. I have an idea of building mine off the front of my bench seat, kind of like N2Trux's air ride switches but to hold drinks instead. I was just wondering what everyone else has done.

I take a couple of big sips and put it between my legs! I was thinking how cool it would be to get rid of the ashtray and put in a cup holder that pops out.

I saw that one that pops out of the ash tray and I must say that it is a very nice looking piece. I may go for it, but building my own would also be pretty fun. Who sells those ashtray ones just out of curiosity?

I bet if you went to an RV / camper supplier, or boat accesory supplier they might have some possible components... Just brain storming, & it's the day before my birthday,so my brain is pretty stormy.

i bought mine from pickupman here is the link http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=67-72+holders and since my pictures arnt there no more here ya go too. as i stated in the other thread the cup holder is the same as a 2001 jetta rear cup holder so you could buy one from VW and make it fit, but probably easier to get it for pickupman

Those look awesome! Way better than I would want to try and top. How do I get in touch with pickupman? Does he have an email or a website or do I just shoot him a PM or what? Also, is the price 55 bucks, or has that changed or anything?

yeah just use that link that LUV gave ya, i think i paid like 55 but he will let you know for sure. if you have a floor shift (4 speed, lokar auto shift) you could have some problems. i cant put it in park with the cup holder out, but reverse works just fine

I've got one that replaces the ash tray ready for Christmas. Got it from one of the vendors in Olympia. It was around $50.

I almost bid on this one to put in my '69. It doesn't look like anyone bid so someone might be able to contact the seller and see if they want to sell it.

Those are kind of convenint but i guess i'm not crazy about how they block off the radio if you got a big ol drink in there. I would like to fabricate one of the newer dodges cup holders into my project now. It might be kind of like the pictures above but the sides are adjustable in to let you put in smaller drinks and not have them fly all over.

I drink enough beer as it is, the last thing I need is the temptation to take one with me in the truck! In fact, I just finished the open one, now I gotta head to the fridge.

I have one of these ash tray cup holders and really like it except the driver's side duct that feeds the center AC vent must be removed for clearance (center AC vent is now only fed by the passenger's side duct).

yeah it is how the ash tray track mounts to the dash. IIRC one type is metal and cant be removed, one type is metal that can be removed and the third type is plastic.

Are these "year specific" or random for any year truck? I've never seen a plastic one.

Is there an easy way to tell if it can be removed or not without tearing the dash apart. What should I look for?

pull out your ashtray and see if there is bolts/screws holdong it in. the kit from pickupman is for all three kinds, so you only have to tear into it once
