cant seem to stay away from the saw

Finally decided that the windshield needed the chop in order to get the roadster look I want. So I whacked 4" off and made a new profile for the A-pillars, the new profile gives the a-pillars a smooooother look. I took the week off to dedicate the time to the cab. My plans for the week are to finish the windshield frame, smooth the firewall, shave the doors and do something with the rear cab wall. Anybody is welcome to come over and help. Here are a few pics……I will post the work as I go along……anything suggestions are welcome. Like it, don’t like it……..let me know what you think. Maybe you can share the winning lotto numbers for next week…..
Almost forgot the safety tip of the day……DON’T FORGET TO TAKE YOUR SANDALS OFF AND GET SOME SHOES ON BEFORE YOU START TO WELD…..well I gotta go…..going to the mall and look for something cool to stick thru my new pierced toe.

Looks good. I've never been a fan of chopping our trucks, but I like what you're doing, kinda like a blazer...but not! I think the doors look cool without any posts. Is that going to make sealing the glass difficult, or is this truck not going to have a top and door glass at all??? Keeps the pics comming... They should do an American Hot Rod episode with a 67-72.....

Just keep in mind that when you begin refering to the saw as "family" and start collecting other peoples faces that you MIGHT have a problem.

Thats funny you mentioned that, I dont care for a chop top either. But I have seen some nice ones chopped just 2 inches. But after I removed the roof it just didnt look right to me with that tall windsheild hanging in the air, so I decided on the heavy chop, I hope I still feel the same after the truck is all put toghether The truck wont have any side glass and it might get a carson top later on down the road, but for now it will be topless.

I love it. Can't wait to see some more progress, or some shots of the mods done thus far, or did I just not see them in another thread.

Keep up the good work,

Nice work, it's great to see someone that isn't afraid to do that kind of stuff. I'd like to see a better pic of that center console!

And to think it all started on a dare. It looks great. I wouldn't have gone more than 2" either but I agree that it looks killer. Keep the pictures and progress reports coming.

Here is the base for the center console. I made it in order to stiffen the rear cab wall after the roof was removed. The back plate bolts on to the original fuel tank mounting holes, the bottom peice will then be welded to the back peice after I set it back on the frame and make shure the rear wall is in the correct position. In hind sight I should have made the smooth side of the plate exposed so it would have been easier to cover with fabric.....all well next time
