Not happy with a 3/5 drop, any suggestions ? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 67 C10. I replaced the springs and shocks with drop springs and drop shocks.
I chose a 3/5 drop cause the sales people said with a 6 inch drop in the rear I would have to notch the frame. I got several replies from people out here that had a 6" rear drop and were fine. I should of went with the 6" drop in the rear.

My question is, if I go with lowering blocks, I have rear coils, will it warp the axles, or give me wheel hop. I was reading that lowering blocks were not a good choice for lowering.

I would like to lower the back about another inch a half. Without cutting the new spring, or replacing the lowered shock.

Any suggestions?

nothing wrong with blocks as long as you don't go bigger than 2in. Whoever said that must have been smokin somthing, or they installed them wrong which is not the blocks fault just the BLOCKHEAD.

Lowering blocks work great, but as a suggestion, I would have some built that are angled. As you have already dropped a long way with coils, The pinion angle of the rear axle is way out of wack compared to the output of the transmission (or steady bearing). You may get a vibration, or wheelhop, or it just may wear out U joints quicker. What you want is a block that when installed returns the pinion angle to close to stock. Try one of the suppliers that advertise in these pages. Also, you may need an adjustable track bar to re-center the rear end under the truck.

Yep, wooden blocks will give you wheel hop! LOL. The angle suggestion is right on.

Are you going to take tbd front lower?
I installed 3/5 springs, and my front looks a little higher, maybe 1/4".
I was thinking about adding drop spindles to the front to get the rake back.

You can go with 1.5" blocks if you are running 15" wheels. Larger wheels will allow for a 2" block with out scrubline concerns.

I would just add a simple 1-1.5" block to your setup, a very inexpensive and worthwhile lowering method for these trucks in the rear. The nice thing about it is, if you have anykind of fab skills you can modify the block to the "exact" drop you need/desire.

Yes you did, and thanks for doing it.

Now on to your question. I prefer to get as much drop from spindles as possible. A 3" spindle may require some mods to the A-arm, but it doesn't affect the ride quality. If you want more then trim the stock spring till your happy.

Not criticizing; just commenting on the gap between the last post & yours. I've seen some that were 3yrs, maybe even 5-6yrs..... never anything longer.
