Im looking at random parts on Ebay. What does NOS stand for? I knew at one time, but I've gotten way older since and forgot.

The "true" definition is New Old Stock. Meaning the part is new, and never used, but may be 10, 20, or 30 years old. What you have to watch for is @ssholes that advertise as "like" NOS or some other deceptive wording. They want you to think it's NOS when it's really a used part....

Thanks, all I could think of was Nitros Oxide, but knew that wasnt it. Or at least not the NOS I was looking for.

Thanks

I dunno how Nitrous Oxide got to be NOS,anyway. It`s s`posed to be N-O-2.Someone must have mistaken the 2 for an S and there it started.

For years, Nitrous Oxide Systems owned the market on nitrous kits. Their logo is the letters NOS. Only later did the other companies get heavy into the market.

It's just like calling a copier a Xerox even though it may be any other manufacturer.
