The "speaker kick panel" thread
Has inspired me to install a high quality sound system.
I have always wanted to do so. Can anyone give me some advise on a superior combination. I will be starting with the 6.5 infinity comps. What brand and types of amp, head, woofer should I get? Thanks, JB |

Ive been out of the loop for awhile but you can never go wrong with Alpine head units and JL Audio subs. I use to like to run Precision Power amps but Phoenix Gold and Alpine make pretty good amps too.

Members will have a tough time suggesting a head unit without first knowing what media you wish to use, i.e., AM, FM, CD, MD, MP3, iPod, cassette, SACD, harddrive, satellite radio, etc.

For mine I am leaning towards a pair of MB Quart 5.25" components in the kick panels. 6.5" will fit, but I figure it will likely interfere with my E-brake and floor vents. I will also be running some sort of subwoofer setup, consisting of either 4 8's under the seat or 2 10". I can't go behind the seat due to the gas tank still being back there. For an amp, I will likely use something like 75 to each 5.25"/tweet combo and 150 watts to each sub. It should sound really nice once I get it all squeezed into the tiny cab.

I wanna see if I can get a set of Kicker solo-baraks under the seat. The 10" versions of those funny looking square things should be perfect.

JL Audio just brought back the W1. 10" sub that replaces the W0, the W1v2 is something like 4 1/2 inches deep. And it has that classic JL sound to it. I'm thinking of going that way.

WILL the solo baraks do what I'm wanting them to do? Does Kicker still make 'em?

I 2nd the KICKER subs. I have had over 15 systems in various vehicles (more than one in most) and all have been Kicker. To say it plain and simple for product vs $$ you cant get better.
