Passenger Seat Optional

I was just wondering if anyone has ever seen a Blazer that didn`t have the"optional"passenger seat.I`m sure by now there would be a seat installed. But maybe could tell by the VIN-spec sheet on g-box door.Just goes to show how"utility"these were thought to be back then.

You know, looking at that picture I have never noticed that if you didn't have the optional back seat the spare is right behind the driver, but if you only have the drivers seat the spare is just laid down in the back. weird

Yeah,I knew about the behind-the-seat mount(find one of those). But I noticed that in your Ad about the 1-seater spare.Never seen that either.I`m sure it`s not just layin`there.

Yeah, Not to start a new thread on a issue that we have gone over 100 times. My blazer has all the seats, but when I got it from the original owner all the jack parts and jack were mounted behind the drivers seat. can't remember how it went but I wonder if that is the one seat configuration

I think it might look green because of a shadow, look at the picture to the right.

They were all that way regardless of the seats that were ordered.

If you had an inside spare carrier then some if not all of the jack stuff would have been mounted near the carrier.

Not the jack according to other posts and diagrams it went in the back where spare tire holder was and you had the spring clip and hold down bracket.

Gee Emm:
I know but I got my blazer from the original owner 27yrs ago. He was a customer at my father's gas station .It's a cst with the spare tire carrier in the back. I know that the jack and all its content were neatly packaged behind the drivers seat. Because when I got it the first thing I did was lift it and put 33X14.50's on it. I remember saying I won't need this anymore its too short. So out it went. I have never seen a picture or found a person who can tell me how it all went behind the seat. So the point I was trying to make. Was that the conclusion that all other threads we have had on this subject has been some parts behind the seat some in the back. Me knowing that mine was not this way. So if they put the tire and carrier behind the seat I would have to believe that everything would be right there and none in the back.

Looks like some emblem I saw a closer icture it jsut looks like a black emblem on the ash tray. Also I only see them on the 1970 trucks and might only exist on the CST.

Special-K - Just to answer you question, I saw an original '71 about 6 months ago in Texarkana that didn't have the passenger seat. There were no holes there to even mount a seat! I was a straight 6 with 3 on the tree very basic other than the front locker option. It was pretty straight but had lots of floorboard rust, none-the-less it had about the cleanest bedsides I'd seen on an unmolested blazer.

That`s what I`m talkin`about!Talk about bare-bones utility. That`s just a big Jeep, front locker to boot.Did it have a top? When it says optional top,is that a top, period?Or does that mean you got the dbl-wall?Another subject for another thread

I think that in those ads and brochures, they used a lot of prototype Blazers for the photoshoots. In the brochure below for the '69 (all the brochures have been posted by a board member at http://www.slosh.com/) notice the orange one in the middle and the back of the top is much more straight up and down than the production tops.

my blazer was ordered with no back seat the spare tire mount was right behind the drivers seat and the jack and handle was attached to the little step up wall behind the drivers seat with a spring

special-K - The old thing did have a double wall top. It was almost funny to look at without having options. It was neat but I hated to spend the $750 to get it!
