Fuel Gauge ... Help again!
Hey guys, I know there have been lots of threads on this, but i cant find any info to help me! My gas guage isnt working. Before it was at the 3oclock position (bad ground i believe?) and i took everything apart, cleaned up the terminals, the bolts on the back, resistor, etc. i put the guage back in, and the needle (which i had moved the needle when i was cleaning it) and the needle moved a bit, then stopped. I moved the needle by hand, and it stays where i put it. How do i check that the guage is working right, (grounding out guage?) that the sending unit (at the guage back (three prongs) ) is gettign the right power (what terminals do i check and for what?) etcetcetc.....
thanks

First be sure the small metal clips which go through the circuit board and plastic housing are making good contact with the circuit board and fuel guage. After reinstalling a guage sometimes the metal clips get pushed away from the circuit trace (board) After that, be sure to check the main connecter where it pushes into the guage cluster to make sure all the contacts are clean and making good contact as well. Since the guage is mot moving after you are moving it by hand, it is not getting power and/or ground at the guage itself.

If you have dual tanks and it does it on both tanks then it's the gauge or wiring to it. If it's only one side it does it on then it's that tank's ground.
