I used to do this every Sunday evening to give everyone a chance to post their accomplishments from this weekend.

Myself, I've been busy studying between 8 and 10 hours a day for the last month or so, but, I was able to sneak outside and work a little while today.

All I was able to get done was clean and prep an HEI distributor to put into the 292 and also put a new fuel pump and water pump onto it too.

Here's the whole story on the engine:
I bought a rolling dually frame from teeitup a week ago and it came with an old core 292 engine on it. He had no idea what the story was on the engine, so he threw it in for a few extra bucks. I bought it for use as a core to hopefully rebuild. I tinkered with it and it actually ran with gas and a battery hooked up. So, I'm happy as a 2 tailed puppy now that I have a good running 292. I had been planning on using a 250 inline 6 that I've been saving for awhile. I'm much happier with a 292 though.

I attached some pictures:
The one picture is from last week in Meridan Kansas, where teeitup lives. My wife and I drove up there one day to buy the chassis. Once we got up there, the snow and ice were a mess, so we turned right around and drove straight back to Texas as soon as the deal was done. My wife and I had planned to stay overnight in a motel someplace and drive back the next day, but I got Texas fever and needed to get the hell home.

The other two pictures are in Texas the next morning. 10 hours drive up and closer to 12 hours back with darkness and slick roads. No snow and it was 71 degrees here when we got home, thank god. I'm definitely allergic to Kansas.

Don't know what my problem is but I missed another chance to take a pic of the 67 "at play". I hauled up the original 307 from the 67, a stripped but complete 350, a vw 2.0 pancake motor from an old bus of mine, a 14 Bolt FF rear end complete as well, two complete GM doors, 2 rallies and tires, a tailgate (from my previous Cali Silverado that gave her life to save mine RIP), two bags of blasting sand, 10 2x8x10's some 4x4 posts and a few other odds and ends from my old place in RI up to Western Mass tonight. I love my 8.5 x 9 flatbed. I had to laugh when a little s10 pulled in front of me on the mass pike with its' arse draggin from a couple of dressers in the back.

I dragged the donor chassis out of the snow bank and into the shop, pulled the rest of the drive shaft out to be extended 12" and get a new hangar bearing. Pulled the plugs and put penetrating oil into the cylinders and rolled the motor over with a bar. Backed the rear brakes off so I could actually get it back outside and greased the front end. Definetly looking forward to next weekend, I am setting the cab onto the chassis for another trial fit, then pulling the motor and transmission, then painting the frame.

James, You better hurry up June is coming fast.

I went over the cab and box with the final look over and finished the wet sanding in 1000. I also hung the doors. So Friday I can take the Box gate cab and doors to be sprayed in torch red Yes !!!! Oh and I am going out right now to put the 2 od 7 coats of Varnish on my wood floor.

It was a good week

I did not get any thing done on our trucks this weekend!

It was -40f and we have no heat in the shop

Stayed in doors and wacthed tv all week end

replaced the serpentine belt on my lesabre and only managed to smash one of my hands in the idler pulley

i also worked about 16 hours between friday and saturday. i have to work tomorrow, then the spring semester of school starts tuesday.

also, I helped my dad finish our "new" air compressor. he bought an industrial 220v stand-up compressor at a yard sale for $20. we dont have 220 in the garage and he didnt want to wire it, so we took the electric motor off and traded it to one of his buddies for a 5hp Tecumseh engine off a snowthrower. We rigged it up on the compressor and got it running today. Total cost: $27 (initial purchase + $7 belt). I forget how big the tank is, but it should be awesome to help work on the GMC. I'm happy with it.

It was warm enough on Saturday to get out the new power-washer my kids got me for Christmas. It's a husky brand, that puts out 1750 psi. I spent maybe 3 hours blowing all the built up grease and grime from under the hood of my Panel, grinning the whole time about all the quarters I was saving.

After that, I went to work building a sand-blaster. I am using a 55 gallon drum cut in half and hinged so it opens. The thing looks like a bar-b-que right now, next I need to cut in a plexi-glass window and some glove holes and I'll be set. I hope it works.

started calving here 5 out of 140 so far. got bored and drove her up and down the road a couple times not quite road worthy yet very little brakes. ok really no brakes just a downshift. remembered my deadline on my other truck 3 weeks till I turn 16 looks like that ant going to happen

Swapped in a new 195 degree thermostat (outside in 0 degree weather). Finished painting the desk I built for my daughter. Got the wife's storage unit for the kitchen boxed in. Bought a new drill press. Got the tag for my truck. Made lasagna.

well the thermometer made it up to -29ish today and I decided enough sittin around,so I bundled up and went out to my heaterless garage(insulated though) and set to work.It really wasn't too bad if ya kept movin

I got the remainder of the cancer in the rear LS floor cut out,as well as the cab support and started massaging in the new floor panel and b pillar.Floor is gonna fit quite well by the looks of thing,the b pillar.....don't wanna talk about it.I hung the door just to get a rough idea of how things are looking and have realized that I can't align a door to save my life!

Once my feet and fingers were totally froze I called it a day.Any progress is progress,right?

Replaced timing chain cover gasket and seal to oil pan to hopefully stop my oil leak.....and added a gear drive, next is a new cap and rotor for the HEI.

My son turned six Saturday, so between playing with his new toys (got too it is the law

) and some side computer jobs the truck stuff has been non existent. I am hoping to get some time out there today to finish stripping the old paint of the bed.

I actually fired mine up this week-end and took a spin around the yard. The tranny still has 1st and 2nd gear

I vacuum tested the engine 'cause I had never done it before. She idled at 20 and accel/decel was about 4 to 24.... good enough for me! I also had to do some engine adjusting to an 86 toyota truck I'm selling. Runs like a top now.

Smoothed and polished plenum and runners for TPI system so they can be painted before installing on the '72. Removed casting lines, letters & numbers on exhaust manifolds getting them ready for sand blasting and painting with POR 15 exhaust manifold paint. Helped a buddy pick up a '69 RS Z-28 Camaro he just bought and then we dropped in a four-speed mated to a 427.

I got my front end back from the blaster this weekend and began to prep it for primer. Ive decided to replace the driver side fender due to a large dent on a corner. I also got the fiberglass laid on the doorpanels and began to sand on them. Im hoping to get my new fender by this weekend so i can reassemble the front end and then prep it for paint. I will also be sending the bumper and headlight bezels off to be blasted and i need to find some turn signals with clean lenses that i can flush mount in my front bumper which i will be smoothing the bolts into this weekend (hopefully). Other than that i did a test fit on my new front rotors and i need to get longer studs for them and get some rubber on my rims so i can mount them and determine the amount of drop i will need to achieve the stance im going for. All in all its been a pretty typical weekend and i didnt get half as much stuff done as i would have like to but progress is being made.

I'm installing a self-made outside air system 'cause I'm tired of the windows fogging up. Prior owner installed an AC/heat system by Old Air Products that only recirculates. Will post some pics when done.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

GreyHoundSteve Registered User Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: DFW TX Posts: 769	I got my front end back from the blaster this weekend and began to prep it for primer. Ive decided to replace the driver side fender due to a large dent on a corner. I also got the fiberglass laid on the doorpanels and began to sand on them. Im hoping to get my new fender by this weekend so i can reassemble the front end and then prep it for paint. I will also be sending the bumper and headlight bezels off to be blasted and i need to find some turn signals with clean lenses that i can flush mount in my front bumper which i will be smoothing the bolts into this weekend (hopefully). Other than that i did a test fit on my new front rotors and i need to get longer studs for them and get some rubber on my rims so i can mount them and determine the amount of drop i will need to achieve the stance im going for. All in all its been a pretty typical weekend and i didnt get half as much stuff done as i would have like to but progress is being made.
