Old Blue Update #1

Just thought i would take some pictures of my progress since i just found my digital camera, I cant remember the brand of valves i have..ill look em up later, intake is 2.04 too tired to recall what the exhaust is, probably somewhere in the 1.50 - 1.80 range i would guess, you can see my old double humps sitting in the upper right corner, picture of my engine with a new coat of chevy orange, i have the crank set in there, im in the process of plastigauging it, and my nasty old engine bay that i need to spray down with oven cleaner.

You have no idea, the stuff i use that works best comes ina aerosol can, called Easy Off, you spray that on, wait a few minutes and hose it off, it takes everything off clear done to bare metal.

I'm confused, does it go down to the painted surface or does it take the paint off too down to bare metal?

I thought it only took the grease/dirt off.....

Thanks

Well, it really depends on how long you leave it on, 5 mins then hoseing it off with a garden hose will take in down to the bare metal, at least it did when i was working on my 71 Beetle

the older paint that has been heated and cooled about 8 billion times will come right off. fresher paint will stay. (alos has to do with how clean thins were before painting)
